Endings
I want to point out that I have yet to understand why the book is titled The Sense of an Ending. Since this is my second read through, I am focusing on a number of thing aside from plot, such as the author's personal views, his implicit messages, but mostly (because it annoys me so much), the reason behind the title. Tony speaks a lot about time, how it is, in our perception, linear, how we do not always have an accurate perception of the passing of time, and if we think about these two attributes of time, we may come to realize, and fear, the end. Because time is linear to us, death means the end of the line; becsuse, at times, time flies, the end may come sooner than we want it to. Death has to be the main definition of this ending, considering it is a topic spoken about in their classes, one of their schoolmates commits suicide, and by all of these notions, we must all remember that these are all Tony's memories, so there must be a reason why he is pointing these out. I feel as though I am getting closer, but i would like to see if it becomes blatantly obvious, or if I must solve it for myself.
