Due to that fact that I have been our sick for the past to day I have just began the novel and am writing my first post today( I will do my other two post over the weekend and print them our for you Shap). Now taking into account that i have just started and have yet to really grasp the character, I am currently liking the book. It has a hint to the philosophical idea that we seem to constantly be exposed to in this class, but with a lighter tone that is easier to handle. The writing is also more casual and clearer then Notes, which I appreciate, yet holds true to an honest, diary like feel that I enjoyed in Notes. So far I find it refreshing and I sort of like the narrator's blunt attitude.
However, despite the casual tone, the narrator does allude to some interesting philosophical ideas. He is already discussing a difficulty in understanding time. Something that controls us and serves as a constant boundary. I found it interesting how such obviously intelligent boys can act so childish. It is strange, they are usually "talking piss", as the narrator puts it, except for when they are serious. However when they are serious we see true points of insight. I am interested to see where this leads and how the group will mature, if they do mature.
