Part one
So after finishing the first part, I honestly have no idea where this book is going. I think it is interesting and again easy to read. I think his reactions are pretty delayed. Everything that occurs takes time for Tony to process. This I find to be most relatable. The rest of the chapter is very relatable too and catches me by surprise multiple times. On that note, I cannot believe that Adrian killed himself. I think Tony's reaction is somewhat strange. They made a promise to stay friends. They are struggling with that. Did Adrian commit suicide because of Veronica? Why does Tony hate Veronica so much? I mean I do understand why, but at the same time he should have gotten over it. I also think Adrian planned his suicide way too well. But after this moment, we sped through the rest of Tony's life. He got married, had Susie, Susie got married, and Susie had kids in the span of two pages. After taking up so much time explaining his relationship with Veronica and the letters he received from Adrian and Alex, why was everything so quick-paced. He is now retired and contemplating his life as he runs a library in a hospital, surrounded by sick people and on good terms with his ex-wife. It is such a strange life. And I'm sorry, but I do not really see a point to this. It's just a story of his life. And he keeps saying that some information is not necessary to the story. But is the story not his story? Because it seems to be personal. He has chosen specific events to describe in detail. What point is it going to make? I must say I am a bit confused.
