The end of part one leaves me with a lot of questions. Where is Tony’s life going to go next? What is the significance behind him recalling
his memories? Why did Adrian kill
himself? I keep asking myself these
questions and I hope they are answered in part two. I still really like this book because I find
it interesting to read. I love the way
that Tony narrates it. He has this
sarcastic funny tone and it is funny to hear his opinions on different
things. I also find it relatable because
these are kids our age, graduating high school and then going to college. It’s interesting to read what guys this age
think about.
One part
that reminded me of teens around this age is when Tony and Veronica have
sex. They had just broken up so it meant
nothing but they still did it. Did
Veronica do it to get back together with Tony?
Why did Tony officially end things with Veronica after they finally did
it? Tony is a jerk and right after they
have sex he “came to a decision and a conclusion: No, it went, no,” (page
40). This was a funny scene because we
could tell that Tony was not experienced with any of this and it was funny to
see how he handled it all.
The part
that I was not expecting at all was when Tony read the letter that said, “Adrian
died. He killed himself,” (page
51). This was so unexpected because not
only had we not heard about Adrian for a while in the book, but also he never
seemed like the type of guy to do something like that. When Robson died when they were back in high
school, Adrian had an explanation for it and on suicide. He always just seemed to understand life more
than the others, so out of the four friends I did not expect this to happen to
him. I really want to know what happened
to him. Maybe Tony’s mother is right and
“he was too clever,” (page 56). I hope
Tony brings this up later in his story and tells us why he did it. However, Tony doesn’t even know why so maybe
we will never find out.
