I really
did enjoy reading The Sense of an Ending.
I thought it was interesting to see life through another person’s eyes and see
how a person can live a life full of regret. Tony did ramble a lot throughout
the novel, and at points it got really annoying, but then he would tell an
interesting story and I would love it again. It kind of annoyed me how all of
Tony’s life he was thinking about his past; he was never in the present.
Whenever he would be doing something nice he would think about what Adrian
would think about the situation. It really annoyed me how Tony revolved his
life around Adrian, even though Adrian was already dead. I did not like how the
characters made Adrian’s suicide so wonderful. They thought that his suicide
was so amazing and it just made me feel uncomfortable. Veronica sucked at the
beginning of the novel, and continued to suck until the end. All of these
characters had their own little quirks, but that is what made them real people
and what made them all relatable.
The end was
so unexpected. I was not expecting all that to come out in just three pages.
The fact that Adrian and Mrs. Ford had a baby really creeps me out, and the
fact that Veronica was just chilling there was really weird.
There were
some parts of the novel that I really related to. The parts about how you have
to live your life to the fullest no matter how dull it is. This book also not
me not to dwell on the past so much, because what happened already happened and
you cannot change the past. It was something I already knew but it was more eye
opening to read it.
